CFMoto 800 Adventure X Brings Chinese Competition to Big ADV Segment

Published on December 28th, 2025 by

CFMoto has confirmed European availability of its 800 Adventure X, positioning the Chinese manufacturer directly against established adventure bikes at aggressive pricing. The model, developed in partnership with KTM and using a derivative of the Austrian company's LC8c parallel-twin engine, enters the market at €10,499—substantially undercutting the KTM 890 Adventure while offering comparable specifications. Whether European buyers will embrace a Chinese badge on essentially KTM architecture remains the key market question.

The engine produces 95 horsepower from 799cc, with peak torque arriving at 6,500 rpm. CFMoto has tuned the power delivery for accessible mid-range rather than outright peak figures, reasoning that adventure bike buyers prioritize tractable power over dyno bragging rights. The chassis is CFMoto's own design, a steel trellis frame that weighs marginally more than KTM's chromoly equivalent but offers greater stiffness according to manufacturer data. Suspension is fully adjustable KYB units front and rear, with 200mm travel at both ends.

Build quality has historically challenged Chinese motorcycle manufacturers in Western markets, where buyers expect fit and finish comparable to Japanese and European products. CFMoto claims significant quality improvements across its latest range, with welds, paint, and component integration meeting "international standards." Early reviews from Australian journalists—where the 800 Adventure X launched six months ago—suggest the claims hold merit, though long-term durability data remains unavailable. European deliveries commence March 2026 through CFMoto's expanding dealer network.
